As a man thinketh…A Biblical take on critical thinking

By |September 12th, 2014|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , , , , |

I’ve been spending some time this week studying the concept of critical thinking.  As I mentioned in my last post, I believe we’ve come to an important point in our own personal histories, where God is asking us if we’re willing to do the internal work necessary to move into the next level of what He’s called us to accomplish. To make the leap, we’re going to have to change the way we think. We’re going to have to deal with mindsets that are holding us back and we’re going to have sharpen our thinking skills so that we can [...]

The Danger Of Disengagement

By |August 22nd, 2014|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , , , , |

The last few weeks have been rough, haven’t they? No matter where you look, the world is in a state of conflict. International headlines are filled with the conflict in Israel, threats from new enemies (ISIS), as well as threats from old enemies (Russia.)  At home, the situation in Ferguson has stoked the fires of racial division. A few minutes on the CNN page can leave a person fearful, angry, disheartened or just plain numb. But, the headlines only tell part of the story. What we see on earth is a reflection of what is happening in the spirit realm. [...]

There’s A Heavy Price To Hesitation

By |June 26th, 2014|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , |

One of the things that I keep hearing is that the next two years are going to be filled with dramatic changes – both internally and externally.  The idea of change can be exciting – as long as it remains an idea.  That’s why movies and self-help books are so popular.  We like to visualize a better life.   Doing the work to get there, well… The idea of change is great… The other side of change is great… The process of change… not so much. The truth is, nobody likes having to change.  I mentioned in a recent post [...]

Eye of the tiger, baby…

Have you ever had a fear that seemed to define you? Over the past week, we have been dealing with this kind of fear in the Ozment household. About a week ago, my daughter was suddenly struck with a fear of something being in her room when she was going to bed. I tried everything… music, lights on, doors closed, doors opened. There has been a lot of tears, hugs, reassurances, frustration, more tears, guilt, stress and repentance...mostly on my part. Just like that, everything that defined her was lost in the reality of the fear that she was facing [...]

Searching For The Silver Bullet

By |June 5th, 2014|Categories: Leadership|Tags: |

People are always looking for a silver bullet, for that one thing that will guarantee success. It doesn’t matter if it's in business, your spiritual life or finding a date, someone is out there willing to sell you on the five steps it takes to get where you want to go. I’m one of those people. I want to sell you a silver bullet. It won’t help you lose those 20 pounds (quit blaming it on the camera and go to the gym, people!) and it won’t help you find your future spouse (if you want a laugh, check this [...]

Puzzles

By |January 10th, 2014|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , , , , , |

This Christmas a friend of the family gave my 7-year old a 1,000-piece puzzle.  She enjoys doing puzzles and it provides a great opportunity for us all to work on a project together.  We started the puzzle on Sunday evening, thinking we would finish the next day…boy were we wrong!  We have been working a couple of hours every night and six days later, we are just finishing up!  We have been eating around a puzzle for a few days now and I am really ready to get my dining room table back.  I am even dreaming about puzzle pieces…can [...]
