Leadership Coaching For Youth

How Does Leadership Coaching Benefit Your Child?

The future is dependent on assuring that our children possess the skills critical to creativity and innovation. Today’s top leaders agree that students need these skills:

  • Critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Curiosity and imaginative thinking critical to innovation
  • Effective communication skills
  • Mental stamina and resilience
  • Adaptability and willingness to collaborate

Unfortunately, much of what they are learning runs counter to these skills.  Coaching breaks past those barriers to help your child harness and channel their natural abilities.  We are here to partner with you and your child to identify their strengths and build the skills that the future demands.

What’s A Typical Session Like?

While academic performance is important, coaching focuses on developing the critical thinking skills in your child by teaching them self-awareness and the importance of asking thought-provoking questions.  Homework assignments are never a subject of meetings.
Coaching is a process of self-discovery.  As a coach, I provide encouragement, ask thought-provoking questions and challenge limited thinking.  My job is not to give advice; it’s to add fuel to a student’s fire.
Students pick up labels as early as elementary school.  Those labels can become self-fulfilling prophesies.  Eliminating those labels helps your child to discover their hidden potential.  Coaching involves the development of self-awareness enabling students to rise above false labels.
For coaching to be effective, parents must be involved in the process.  Parents must be in agreement with goals and provide a home environment that fosters coaching objectives.
While there are tools and assessments that are helpful in goal-setting, coaching sessions are never done in a cookie-cutter fashion.  Sessions are heavy on discussion and are guided by agreed-upon goals and objectives.
Each session will have a measurable assignment designed to keep progress moving forward.  For sessions to be effective, students must be committed to walking out the agreed upon goals and objectives.
