Stop Swimming In The Kiddie Pool

By |May 29th, 2015|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

This weekend God hit me with a challenge/rebuke that I think will resonate with you as well. I was in a conference session and heard Him say, ”It’s time to get out of the kiddie pool. It’s time to start swimming in the depth that I have called you to.” When He said it, I knew exactly what He was talking about. I have some revelation that I think is important and I’ve been sitting on it. I’ve shared it with a few people, but I’ve been hesitant to unpack what I'm hearing to a larger audience and He called [...]

The Wall In Front Of You

By |May 14th, 2015|Categories: Identity|Tags: , , , , , , |

This morning I was out on my prayer walk and I saw something that I think is very prophetic to where many of us are today. Do you ever feel like one of these is about five inches from your face?   I know I sometimes do. The concept of breakthrough is exciting. I mean, who doesn’t want to move to a new level? You receive a prophetic word or hear God calling you to move out into a new area of faith.  So you start moving forward with excitement, only to plant your face into the wall [...]

What Label Are You Wearing?

By |March 4th, 2015|Categories: Identity|Tags: , , , , , |

Have you ever felt like you understood a season of your life, only to realize you didn’t? That’s what happened to me this week. I was sitting in a conference session and suddenly realized that for years I had been miscast in a role that defined my identity for over a decade.  What?!?! I was really good at what I did.  I helped a lot of people.  It was something that I excelled at, but it was also a label that boxed me in. Can you relate? The Identity War: Sometimes we forget, or fail to recognize the level of [...]

Take The Leap – Embracing Creative Risk

By |February 3rd, 2015|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , |

Have you recovered from the Superbowl? I have a dear friend who needed to find her religion again after that crazy game!  We were all rooting for Seattle at my house this Sunday and in the matter of a few minutes we went from resignation that they would lose, to euphoria (how did he catch that pass???) to absolute shock and frustration. How could they make that call? What were they thinking?   https://twitter.com/umangdua/status/562088544697843713   Blasted autocorrect!   But this morning, I read a post from Todd Henry that really hit on an important point. What would we be talking [...]

Announcing Vanguard Leadership Courses!

By |January 27th, 2015|Categories: Leadership, Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , |

I have an exciting announcement that I want to share with you this week! When I launched Vanguard Creative last year, it was to help leaders like yourself to better position themselves to make an impact in God’s Kingdom. Other people write about Christian living, leadership and other important topics. My goal is to align prophetic revelation with Kingdom ideas so that we can start making an impact on the world around us at a higher level. We need to be more than good witnesses.  We need to shift the world around us. With that in mind, I’m excited to [...]

My Three Words For 2015

By |January 8th, 2015|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

I’m trying something new in my planning process for 2015 and I thought I’d share it with you. For years now, I have always taken some time at the beginning of the year to put some goals in place.  Some of my goals have been very actionable, some were rather vague and some were ridiculous leaps of faith. Sound familiar? This year, I’m trying an exercise I learned from Chris Brogan that takes a slightly different approach.  Instead of just writing goals, I'm putting a framework in place that addresses the bigger picture beyond my goals.  Chris started the My [...]

“your idea is terrible”

By |December 11th, 2014|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Of course it is. That’s the very nature of ideas, isn’t it?  Ninety percent of our ideas are destined to fail. Thomas Edison completed over 9,000 experiments before he perfected the light bulb. But when he hit on the right idea, it changed everything. This post isn’t about whether the idea is bad or not. It’s about the person who says it’s terrible. Social media has made it really easy to attack the ideas of others, hasn’t it?  People get bold when they can criticize without looking you in the eye.   Just look at your Facebook feed. Just last week, [...]

Does Kingdom matter in this election?

By |November 4th, 2014|Categories: Government|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Today is Election Day and we can all celebrate a great victory….NO MORE CAMPAIGN ADS!!!! It really is silly season, isn’t it? Millions of dollars spent to put on full display the vitriol that exists on either side of the political aisle, and for what? What changes tomorrow? More importantly, does anything we do today really effect God’s Kingdom? Johnny Enlow had an interesting post on Facebook this morning that is worth a read. Consider this nugget: Approximately 80% of White Christians will vote Republican. Approximately 75% of Hispanic Christians will vote Democrat. Approximately 95% of Black Christians will vote [...]

Winds In The Heavens…Boots On The Ground

By |October 20th, 2014|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

One last thought on whirlwinds to set the tone for the year ahead… We know that this year will be defined by clashing whirlwinds that shift the status quo. Power structures that have kept much of God’s Kingdom shrouded in darkness are about to be exposed.  He wants people to see. But what role do we play? I can tell you for sure, it’s not to sit around and let the winds of the enemy blow our lives apart. In fact, I believe that when God says He’s sending a whirlwind, what He’s sending is us. He’s about to release [...]
