What Label Are You Wearing?

By |March 4th, 2015|Categories: Identity|Tags: , , , , , |

Have you ever felt like you understood a season of your life, only to realize you didn’t? That’s what happened to me this week. I was sitting in a conference session and suddenly realized that for years I had been miscast in a role that defined my identity for over a decade.  What?!?! I was really good at what I did.  I helped a lot of people.  It was something that I excelled at, but it was also a label that boxed me in. Can you relate? The Identity War: Sometimes we forget, or fail to recognize the level of [...]

A Little Perspective On 50 Shades Of Grey

By |February 13th, 2015|Categories: Family|Tags: , , , , , , |

So it’s Valentine’s Day weekend and millions of Americans are celebrating with a visit to their local movie theater to catch 50 Shades of Grey.   What a commentary on our culture. I'm not going to rehash why going to the movie is a bad idea.  There have been a lot of excellent articles about why we shouldn't waste our time on this movie.  Read them. Instead, I thought I'd share a few numbers that give some perspective on the effects of violence on women around the world: BY THE NUMBERS: THE WAR AGAINST WOMEN  1 in 4 [...]

My Three Words For 2015

By |January 8th, 2015|Categories: Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

I’m trying something new in my planning process for 2015 and I thought I’d share it with you. For years now, I have always taken some time at the beginning of the year to put some goals in place.  Some of my goals have been very actionable, some were rather vague and some were ridiculous leaps of faith. Sound familiar? This year, I’m trying an exercise I learned from Chris Brogan that takes a slightly different approach.  Instead of just writing goals, I'm putting a framework in place that addresses the bigger picture beyond my goals.  Chris started the My [...]

Happy New Year! Whether 2014 was a banner year or one to forget, January 1st always brings hope and optimism for what could be. It’s a time for planning and dreaming, for fresh starts and renewed focus on all that you hope to achieve. In the spirit of the season, I wanted to share my hopes and dreams for you in this New Year. My wish for you in 2015: My wish for you this year is that you would step more fully into the calling and purpose for which you were created. I hope that you find yourself irresistibly [...]

Seeing The Long View – Appreciating Your Legacy

By |December 2nd, 2014|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , , |

Have you recovered from your post-Thanksgiving coma, yet? It’s really easy to get caught up in all the preparations, the entertaining and the eating.  Oh, the eating! Scarfing down food until your pants hate you and your blood sugar is on overload from sampling all of the different flavors of pie! To top it off, I spent the whole day in misery after chopping the most offensive onion I have ever come across! An hour and a half later, my eyes were swollen and watering.  Even my husband’s eyes were burning and I was wondering if I was going to [...]

2015 Battle Plans: Fitting Prophecy Into Your Strategy

By |November 18th, 2014|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Most people wait until January to plan for the next year. There is something fresh and new about January that universally calls people to focus, change and new vision. But for most people, all of that January focus leads to resolutions that don’t make it to February. The more serious folks, they go all out - they take retreats, have strategy sessions and lay out goals for their lives and businesses. By February, they’ve got a battle plan in place to conquer what’s on their plate. This year, I want to encourage you to get a head start on everybody [...]

The Freaks Shall Inherit The Earth

By |November 13th, 2014|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , , , , , |

I just started reading a new business book by Chris Brogan, called The Freaks Shall Inherit The Earth.  Great title, isn’t it? I’ve just gotten started, but so far it's great. While the book is largely about carving out your path as an entrepreneur, the main point of the book is that we need to stop burying our inner freak so we can fit in with the cool kids. Nobody changes the world while trying to fit in. It’s the freaks and the misfits that actually get things done. The problem is that the church (read: religion) thinks that its [...]

What’s Your Problem? Dealing With Cycles Of Delay

By |October 28th, 2014|Categories: spiritual warfare|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

One of the most common attributes of quality leaders is the ability to solve problems. Like most leaders, you’re probably pretty good at this. It’s one of the skills that’s helped you get to where you are today. But what happens when the problem you’re tackling isn’t actually the problem? For most leaders, the challenge isn’t in creating a solution, but in understanding the true nature of the problem they’re trying to solve.  Here’s what I mean: A future oriented mindset may help you achieve your goals, but it's also limited because it's one-directional.  If we're pursuing God's purposes, we [...]

Winds In The Heavens…Boots On The Ground

By |October 20th, 2014|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

One last thought on whirlwinds to set the tone for the year ahead… We know that this year will be defined by clashing whirlwinds that shift the status quo. Power structures that have kept much of God’s Kingdom shrouded in darkness are about to be exposed.  He wants people to see. But what role do we play? I can tell you for sure, it’s not to sit around and let the winds of the enemy blow our lives apart. In fact, I believe that when God says He’s sending a whirlwind, what He’s sending is us. He’s about to release [...]

Dancing With Whirlwinds Will Blow “The Hell” Out Of Your Life

By |October 12th, 2014|Categories: spiritual warfare|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

In my last post, I shared about how in the upcoming year, overcoming adversity will require dancing with whirlwinds. The prophets are telling us that this next year is going to be tumultuous, but for the believer who understands their position in God’s kingdom, there is also potential for great advancement. What was meant to destroy you can be the very tool God uses to propel you into your future.  But, to navigate effectively through the coming challenges, it’s essential to stay in a proper mindset.  So let me ask you a question: When you think of whirlwinds, what’s your [...]
