slave, soldier or son: which are you?

By |October 15th, 2015|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , , , , , |

This week, I have been rereading The Supernatural Ways Of Royalty by Kris Vallotton. In the first chapter, he shares the story of an encounter with God that forever changed his life. In a dream, God spoke over and over Proverbs 30: 21-22: "Under three things the earth quakes, under four, it cannot bear up: under a pauper when he becomes a king."  The Lord began to explain to him why the earth can’t handle paupers who become kings. “A pauper is born into insignificance. As he grows up he learns through life that he has no value and his [...]

Who Do You Attract?

By |September 11th, 2015|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , |

I’m not talking about physical attraction. I’m talking about people being drawn to the life you lead and the presence that you carry. To change culture, we must be people of influence, and influence is about attraction. Think about the ministry of Jesus. He attracted people that were hungry. But He also attracted people that were on the edges of society - the demonized, prostitutes, thieves, the social outcasts. These were people who were deeply under the grip of sin, yet they fought to be near Jesus. The man from the Gadarenes was full of demons, but He ran to [...]

How do you destroy a prototype?

By |June 9th, 2015|Categories: spiritual warfare|Tags: , , , , , , |

This is a thought I’ve been mulling over the last few weeks and I believe it’s a question that we cannot afford to ignore. It seems clear that we are in a season of strategic importance to God’s plan for building the kingdom. Think “Great Reformation” level significance. A new prototype is being formed. The rules of church are being rewritten and Kingdom-minded people are seeing things with a different perspective. There’s a new mindset and a new methodology that has the power to shift society in unprecedented ways. Obviously, change on that level won’t go unchallenged.  So, how do [...]

prophecy = action

By |May 4th, 2015|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , , , , |

If we are going to do things we are created to do, it is essential that we stay in timing with God. And staying in timing means taking action. This week, I have been rereading God’s Unfolding Battle Plan by Chuck Pierce. The book lays out specific battles and prophetic insights regarding the church and the world from 2007- 2015. Since we are nearing the end of the prophetic window that the book was written about, I think it’s important to see where things stand with regard these key prophecies. As I was reading, I was amazed at the accuracy [...]

This Time We Cross Over

By |April 10th, 2015|Categories: spiritual warfare|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

This weekend, I attended the Passover conference at Global Spheres and I wanted to share a few highlights that are important as we move forward this year. This year, Passover is all about the winds of Heaven supernaturally blowing open the path in front of you so that you can move into the purpose God has for your life. He’s using His wind to expose obstacles and clear paths so you can cross over. But He cannot cross over for you. Crossing Over Isn’t Easy Have you ever felt God leading you to cross over into something new only to fail [...]

Waiting For Them To Say Yes

By |March 26th, 2015|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , , , |

This weekend I had the privilege of speaking about social entrepreneurship at the Kingdom Business Summit in Dallas. The Summit is a unique event where business leaders come together to blend Kingdom-minded vision with essential business practices. I had so much fun meeting with people who are hungry to do business in a different way! Over lunch, one of the speakers at the event made the point that it seems like God is ready to do some new and exciting things, but the people seem to be waiting for permission. I’ve been thinking a lot about what he said: God [...]

Announcing Vanguard Leadership Courses!

By |January 27th, 2015|Categories: Leadership, Uncategorized|Tags: , , , , |

I have an exciting announcement that I want to share with you this week! When I launched Vanguard Creative last year, it was to help leaders like yourself to better position themselves to make an impact in God’s Kingdom. Other people write about Christian living, leadership and other important topics. My goal is to align prophetic revelation with Kingdom ideas so that we can start making an impact on the world around us at a higher level. We need to be more than good witnesses.  We need to shift the world around us. With that in mind, I’m excited to [...]

2015 Battle Plans: Fitting Prophecy Into Your Strategy

By |November 18th, 2014|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , |

Most people wait until January to plan for the next year. There is something fresh and new about January that universally calls people to focus, change and new vision. But for most people, all of that January focus leads to resolutions that don’t make it to February. The more serious folks, they go all out - they take retreats, have strategy sessions and lay out goals for their lives and businesses. By February, they’ve got a battle plan in place to conquer what’s on their plate. This year, I want to encourage you to get a head start on everybody [...]

Does Kingdom matter in this election?

By |November 4th, 2014|Categories: Government|Tags: , , , , , , , , , , , , |

Today is Election Day and we can all celebrate a great victory….NO MORE CAMPAIGN ADS!!!! It really is silly season, isn’t it? Millions of dollars spent to put on full display the vitriol that exists on either side of the political aisle, and for what? What changes tomorrow? More importantly, does anything we do today really effect God’s Kingdom? Johnny Enlow had an interesting post on Facebook this morning that is worth a read. Consider this nugget: Approximately 80% of White Christians will vote Republican. Approximately 75% of Hispanic Christians will vote Democrat. Approximately 95% of Black Christians will vote [...]

What’s Your Problem? Dealing With Cycles Of Delay

By |October 28th, 2014|Categories: spiritual warfare|Tags: , , , , , , , , , |

One of the most common attributes of quality leaders is the ability to solve problems. Like most leaders, you’re probably pretty good at this. It’s one of the skills that’s helped you get to where you are today. But what happens when the problem you’re tackling isn’t actually the problem? For most leaders, the challenge isn’t in creating a solution, but in understanding the true nature of the problem they’re trying to solve.  Here’s what I mean: A future oriented mindset may help you achieve your goals, but it's also limited because it's one-directional.  If we're pursuing God's purposes, we [...]
