The Reasonable Man

By |April 28th, 2016|Categories: Creativity|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

The reasonable man takes the sure road in life. He understands the way the world works and clicks off the boxes he needs to in order to succeed in life. The reasonable woman defends the status quo knowing that someday, someone will defend her when it’s her turn. The reasonable man acknowledges that things need to change in the world. And he feels good about the fact that he sees it. He may even be so bold as to share a controversial meme on Facebook, just so people know he is serious. The reasonable woman looks at her childhood dreams [...]

Crossing Over Into Your Future

By |April 21st, 2016|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

This weekend marks the Hebrew celebration of Passover, which occurs in Nisan, the first month of the Jewish calendar. Interestingly, the Hebrew New Year begins in the fall at the Feast of Tabernacles, but the first month starts in the spring with Nisan. There is rich meaning and intent in this. Each year carries it’s own unique prophetic symbolism and it’s as if the Lord releases His prophetic purpose at Tabernacles and then allows it to grow and be worked out in hiddenness, only to emerge as we pass over into the full measure of what He desires to accomplish [...]

my wish for you in 2016

By |January 10th, 2016|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , , , |

One of my most popular posts from last year was My Wish For You.  As I was reading it again the other day, I thought it was very fitting for this year as well. So here is my wish for you in 2016: My wish for you this year is that you would step more fully into the calling and purpose for which you were created. I hope that you find yourself irresistibly drawn into new challenges and that fear would never be the reason you turn down opportunity. In this New Year, I hope you TRADE YOUR ANCHORS FOR [...]

the opportunity of a lifetime

By |November 16th, 2015|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , , , , |

Inside of everyone, God has placed seeds of opportunity. When you think about it, that’s really what a calling is, isn’t it? God places nascent gifts within us, points us in a certain direction and says, “This is my plan for your life…go get it!” At that moment there is potential. All the seeds are there to live a life of purpose and impact, but it’s up to us to decide how we will steward that opportunity. Will we take Him up on His offer or choose a safe, yet utterly predictable life? Most of us want to get there. [...]

slave, soldier or son: which are you?

By |October 15th, 2015|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , , , , , |

This week, I have been rereading The Supernatural Ways Of Royalty by Kris Vallotton. In the first chapter, he shares the story of an encounter with God that forever changed his life. In a dream, God spoke over and over Proverbs 30: 21-22: "Under three things the earth quakes, under four, it cannot bear up: under a pauper when he becomes a king."  The Lord began to explain to him why the earth can’t handle paupers who become kings. “A pauper is born into insignificance. As he grows up he learns through life that he has no value and his [...]

Who Do You Attract?

By |September 11th, 2015|Categories: Vanguard Movement|Tags: , , , |

I’m not talking about physical attraction. I’m talking about people being drawn to the life you lead and the presence that you carry. To change culture, we must be people of influence, and influence is about attraction. Think about the ministry of Jesus. He attracted people that were hungry. But He also attracted people that were on the edges of society - the demonized, prostitutes, thieves, the social outcasts. These were people who were deeply under the grip of sin, yet they fought to be near Jesus. The man from the Gadarenes was full of demons, but He ran to [...]

A Look At My Summer Reading List

By |August 22nd, 2015|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , |

When I work with leaders, one of the questions that I ask them is what they are reading. The benefits of reading are numerous, impacting your health, your leadership skills, and your creative process.  Here are just a few ways that reading benefits your life: It sharpens your mind It makes you a better writer It slows memory decline It challenges your paradigms It stimulates idea generation It makes you a better storyteller It helps you see from another perspective It demonstrates an openness to learning My Summer Bookshelf: This week, I thought I would share some of the books [...]

Before Every Breakthrough Comes…CONFUSION???

By |August 6th, 2015|Categories: spiritual warfare|Tags: , , , , , , , , |

Stop me if you’ve experienced this over the last few weeks: Tense conversations with co-workers/ family The feeling that you are talking past people who are normally on the same page with you People misunderstanding your motives or intentions (in person or via social media) A general apathy or irritability Confusion and insecurity about a new project/initiative Something is happening in the spirit realm and we would be fools to ignore it. In my last post, I talked about the resistance that comes just before you move into something new. Sometimes, the resistance is internal and sometimes it comes from [...]

Knowing When To Pivot

By |June 17th, 2015|Categories: Leadership|Tags: , , , , , |

One of the main prophetic themes for 2015 is that this is a “turnaround” year. There is a special grace to turn around issues in your life that seem like they’re moving in the wrong direction. Some of these turnarounds will happen supernaturally, but in large part, turning things around is up to you. God’s saying He will put His wind of grace behind our effort. So how do we do this? One of the big keys to successfully navigating a turnaround is knowing when to pivot. In the business world, the concept of pivoting has become a buzzword for [...]

How do you destroy a prototype?

By |June 9th, 2015|Categories: spiritual warfare|Tags: , , , , , , |

This is a thought I’ve been mulling over the last few weeks and I believe it’s a question that we cannot afford to ignore. It seems clear that we are in a season of strategic importance to God’s plan for building the kingdom. Think “Great Reformation” level significance. A new prototype is being formed. The rules of church are being rewritten and Kingdom-minded people are seeing things with a different perspective. There’s a new mindset and a new methodology that has the power to shift society in unprecedented ways. Obviously, change on that level won’t go unchallenged.  So, how do [...]
