Frequently Asked Questions
What is vc:ADVANCE?
Founded by Shelley Ozment, vc:ADVANCE is an intensive online workshop for leaders who are serious about making kingdom impact. The workshop focuses on building the skills necessary for creating change in the world around you.
Learning is achieved by doing, rather than listening to lectures. Each section is led by a coach, who interacts with students on individual and group projects.
Students use digital tools to complete 12 individual/group projects over a 4-week period. Projects are designed to develop the skills you need to create change: things like critical thinking, collaboration, decision making, prophetic strategy and telling compelling stories. Each assignment works to connect spiritual dynamics with practical strategies.

What is the curriculum like?
For this workshop, we’ve intentionally moved away from a traditional structure to one that we believe will foster the skills and determination that are needed to create change. We believe that real-world change happens through projects, collaboration, trust and intentional action, so each project is designed around these focuses.
You will read, but it’s not about textbooks and lectures. The real learning happens when you show up ready to work with others. When you are done, our hope is that you see what is possible – in yourself and in the world around you.
What should I expect?
The workshop is hands-on with a project-based curriculum completed entirely online. You will spend 75% of your time producing work, including completing projects, giving feedback to others, reflecting on feedback you receive and sharing your work on our public forum.
You will complete 12 projects (3/week), attend online group meetings where you work on projects together, give feedback on other student projects and reflect on weekly learning.
What if I have family/work commitments?
Nearly everyone that attends the workshop has extensive commitments. The point of the workshop is to stretch your capacity, so we don’t apologize for creating a demanding schedule. The reality is that there will always be reasons why we think we can’t accomplish our dreams. This workshop will show you that you can.
Who should apply?
This workshop is for leaders – in the church and the marketplace. No matter what sector of society you work in, you’ll sharpen the skills needed to create kingdom impact. The workshop requires a willingness to commit to a rigorous 4-week schedule, collaborate with others, give generous feedback and experience the vulnerability of sharing your work.
How much does the workshop cost?
$695. This workshop has a higher price tag than anything else we offer. We’re raising the stakes so that we can find and empower leaders that are serious about kingdom impact. If the price and commitment are too much for you, that’s ok. The program probably isn’t for you.
Are there any requirements?
The only requirement is a commitment to finding your place of impact within God’s kingdom. We are seeking people of all ages, across all sectors of society who share a desire to impact the kingdom through their work.
Does the workshop accredited?
There is no accreditation related to the workshop.
What is your class attendance policy?
Because this is a short sprint highly focused on collaboration, the expectation is that students fully commit to every meeting and assignment.
How much time can I expect to spend daily on coursework?
A few hours. It can feel like a lot, but once you get started, you’ll find the time.
Unlike most online courses, vc:ADVANCE requires alot of group-work and human interaction. We recommend that students block off at least a few hours per day for reading and research, in addition to time blocked off for group meetings twice a week and all day Saturday. It’s a commitment, which is part of why it works. You give a lot, but receive so much more.
What’s included in the program fee?
The course is entirely online, so no travel is required. We’ll send you course materials (included in the fee) before the workshop starts. It’s expected that all readings will be completed ahead of the workshop. During the workshop, you will have access to online readings and videos. In addition, you will develop relationships with other kingdom-minded leaders who will push you to keep making a difference.
What is your refund policy?
We understand that life can interfere and that plans change, and we’ve tried to create a refund policy that respects you, our other students and our coaches.
DEPOSIT: We require a $350 deposit to secure your spot in the workshop and to accept our admission offer. Your deposit is non-refundable.
TUITION: The rest of your tuition, $345, is fully refundable any time between the day we receive it and fourteen days prior to the start of the session you applied for. If you withdraw and ask for a refund, and then later decide to reapply, you’ll be asked to pay a new non-refundable deposit as part of your full tuition.
WITHDRAWAL: If our coaches determine that you are failing to contribute to the workshop, we’ll let you know. If you’re still not able to actively participate, we’ll ask you to withdraw from the workshop. In this situation, no refund is possible.
What is your deferral policy?
While we understand that life happens, deferrals create complications with the organizational structure of our program. We currently allow one deferral to a future session of the workshop. It you decide to defer, you will be required to pay a $150 fee. Deferrals are only allowed up to 10 days before the program begins. After that, no deferrals will be allowed.
Are there scholarships available?
There are currently no scholarships available.
